Science-backed
movement rehabilitation

Biokinetics is a registered health profession focused on the use of exercise as medicine. As a qualified biokineticist, Lauren Reimers designs individualised exercise programmes to rehabilitate injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve physical function.

Every programme begins with a thorough functional movement assessment — looking beyond the symptom to understand how you move, where you compensate, and what your body actually needs to perform and heal.

Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a long-term condition, or looking to return to sport safely, you will receive a structured, progressive programme built specifically for you.

What we treat

Clinically designed biokinetics programmes for rehabilitation, performance, and long-term health.

Sports Rehabilitation

Progressive return-to-sport programmes following muscle, tendon, ligament, and bone injuries. Grounded in sports science.

Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

Structured exercise therapy for joint and musculoskeletal conditions. Focused on restoring movement quality and function.

Post-operative Rehabilitation

Phased exercise programmes designed in partnership with your surgeon to support safe and complete recovery post-procedure.

Strength & Conditioning

Performance-focused strength programmes rooted in movement science. For athletes who want to train smarter and last longer.

Chronic Pain Management

Long-term, evidence-based exercise intervention for persistent pain conditions. Movement as medicine — not avoidance.

Functional Movement Assessment

A comprehensive screen of how you move, load, and stabilise. Identifies compensations before they become injuries.

Injury Prevention

Pre-season and in-season screening programmes for athletes at every level. Identify and address risk before injury occurs.

Return to Sport

Criteria-driven return-to-sport protocols. Confidence that you are ready — not just healed, but genuinely match-fit.

Exercise Prescription

Individually prescribed home and gym exercise programmes with clear progressions. You know what to do, and why.

A different approach to movement

Biokinetics is not guesswork. Every decision is evidence-based, individualised, and measurable.

Evidence-Based Practice

Every programme is grounded in current clinical research. No fads, no guesswork — just what the evidence says works.

Individually Designed

No generic handouts. Your programme is built for your body, your history, your sport, and your goals.

HPCSA Registered

Fully registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Qualified, accountable, and committed to your safety.

Measurable Progress

Your outcomes are tracked throughout. You will know exactly how far you have come — and what comes next.

We treat what holds you back

Targeted exercise interventions for the conditions that affect your quality of life and performance.

Sports Injuries

Muscle tears, ligament sprains, tendinopathies, and overuse injuries across all sports and activity levels.

Back & Neck Pain

Core stability, spinal mechanics, and postural correction to address the root cause of persistent back and neck pain.

Shoulder Conditions

Rotator cuff rehabilitation, shoulder instability, and post-surgical shoulder recovery programmes.

Knee Conditions

ACL rehabilitation, patellar tracking, meniscal injury recovery, and knee biomechanics correction.

Post-Surgical Recovery

Structured, phased exercise programmes following joint replacements, reconstructions, and orthopaedic procedures.

Chronic Pain

Long-term management of persistent pain through graded exercise and movement retraining. Science-backed, not avoidance-based.

Hip & Pelvis

Bursitis, FAI, hip flexor and glute dysfunction — restoring strength and stability to the body's movement foundation.

Postural Dysfunction

Corrective exercise for posture-related pain and movement dysfunction — especially common in desk-based workers and athletes.

What patients say

Common questions

Everything you need to know before your first visit.

Biokinetics is a registered health profession that uses exercise as medicine. A biokineticist assesses how you move, identifies dysfunction or weakness, and prescribes individualised exercise programmes to rehabilitate injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve physical performance. It differs from physiotherapy in that its primary tool is exercise — not manual therapy.
Physiotherapy primarily uses manual therapy (hands-on treatment, massage, dry needling) to manage acute pain and injury. Biokinetics uses prescribed exercise as the primary intervention — making it particularly effective for the rehabilitation phase after acute treatment, for post-surgical recovery, and for long-term management of chronic conditions. Many patients benefit from both, and Lauren works closely with referring physiotherapists and surgeons.
No referral is needed to book directly as a private patient. However, if you are claiming through your medical aid, some schemes require a specialist or GP referral. It is worth checking your plan's requirements before your first appointment. Post-surgical patients are always welcome with a surgeon's clearance note.
Please bring any relevant medical imaging (X-rays, MRIs, ultrasound reports), specialist or surgeon correspondence, and your medical aid details if applicable. Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows Lauren to observe how you move — shorts for lower limb assessments, a vest or short-sleeved top for upper body work.
Most major South African medical aids cover biokinetics sessions, typically from the savings or above-threshold benefit. The number of covered sessions varies by scheme and plan. An itemised invoice will be provided after each session for your claim submission. Contact your scheme directly to confirm your specific biokinetics benefit.
This depends entirely on your condition, goals, and individual response to training. After your initial assessment, Lauren will outline a clear programme with an estimated session timeline. Some conditions resolve in 6–8 sessions. Others — particularly post-surgical rehab or chronic conditions — require a longer, progressive plan. You will always know where you are in the process.
